The ANGEL CITY LINKS ACHIEVERS PROGRAM
The Angel City Links Achievers Program prepares and empowers young black men
to reach their full leadership potential. The Achievers program helps build
pathways to success through a focus on education, college and career readiness,
character development, belonging and community building.
PROGRAM COMPONENTS
ACHIEVERS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Over a six-month period, Achiever Program participants (Achievers) partake in
coaching & learning sessions with a Leadership & Personal Development Success
Coach (Rocket Scientist, Tony Magee) and their peers. These sessions assist in
bolstering leadership qualities, providing life skills training, instilling dedication for
positive community involvement, and providing a platform for Achievers to
interact with peers.
THE AFFAIR OF HONOR
The Achievers program culminates with the formal presentation of the young men
at the 2025 Affair of Honor sponsored by the Angel City Chapter of The Links
Incorporated in partnership with The Links Foundation. This exciting event will be
the culmination of the six-month leadership development program.
ACHIEVER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
As part of participating in the Achiever program, students have the opportunity to
receive scholarships and awards for college. Scholarship amounts are based on
students academic achievement and program participation. For the past 43 years
the Angel City (CA) Chapter, Links Incorporated, Achiever Program has provided
over $4,000,000 in scholarships and awards to over 1,400 African American/Black
young men who were graduating from high school.

Achiever Program
Our History
The Achiever Program is a transformative initiative that culminates in The Affair of Honor, an annual celebration recognizing the achievements of our outstanding participants. The next Affair of Honor will take place on June 1, 2025 at Bovard Auditorium, USC, showcasing the journey and accomplishments of our Achievers.This inspiring event includes:
- Honoring Our Achievers: Each participant is presented and celebrated by their families following a vibrant choreographed dance performance.
- Months of Preparation: The program features motivational workshops, empowerment seminars, mentoring sessions, and impactful community service activities.
- Skill-Building Opportunities: Workshops cover topics like college preparation, scholarship guidance, entrepreneurial skills, and fostering a commitment to community involvement.
- Personal Social Responsibility Workshop: Designed to address current issues, including social safety, the political impact on youth of color, and utilizing social media for positive influence.
- Community Engagement: Participants have contributed to meaningful projects, such as supporting the Colgate Dental Van, rehabilitating schools, and assembling care kits for communities in need.
Achievers must attend all program sessions, with awards and scholarships granted based on financial need, academic performance, essays, creative artwork, and advertisement sales. The Affair of Honor is a celebration of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
